I truly believe that when you share your story with others, you give them permission to do the same.

I am a Behaviour Scientist and Award-Winning Blogger. I have a B.Sc. (high honours) in Psychology from Carleton University, and a M.Ed. in Applied Psychology and Human Development from the University of Toronto/OISE.

I came up with the idea for this site on a beach walk in Maui. I wanted to share the psychological research with a larger audience. Initially, I started the blog as a place for my own healing and personal growth; over time and through your support, this beach space has grown into a collective retreat space for us all to gather.

How it Started

While pursuing my graduate degree in psychology at the University of Toronto and living downtown in the biggest city in Canada, I, like many others was always on the go.  In addition to being an athlete for the Varsity Blues rowing team, I was always working hard turning my dreams into reality with little time off. Being in that busy environment, I saw so many people that were exhausted and struggling with doubt, myself included. We all needed to be renewed along the way!

Then during a much needed vacation to Maui that renewed my spirits and lifted my energy, I learned that taking time for self-care in our busy schedules isn’t selfish or bad it actually enhances our productivity and well-being. I was so excited about what I learned and decided while on a beach walk with my sisters to start a blog with a goal of renewing myself and people globally. I wanted to bring the Hawaiian sunshine and hope that I got to others and thought technology was the best outlet to share the message.

So, I took the leap & pressed publish. In 2010, I started this blog, with no followers or blogging experience. I was just a millennial who was about to graduate with a big dream to change the world.

Turning my thought into action changed my life. I’m still blogging 9 years later.

Blogging launched my entrepreneurial journey and has changed my life. This unconventional route and has connected me with opportunities and a powerful global community that I never expected. Look what happened when I took the chance and turned a thought into action.

It took hard work, resilience, community, and a strong belief in myself. I keep blogging and creating ways to empower you all to keep going.

Almost ten years later, I am still so driven to keep creating content and resources that help people and businesses grow. I am turning my pain into purpose and empowering others along the way.

Turning our dreams into reality can be lonely and many people don’t open up about their struggles. That is actually one of the reasons I started my interview series early on to show readers that they are not alone and to keep going. Check out the interview series here.

I’m excited for what the future holds. Be sure to check out my Instagram (@ariannaonthego) for daily motivation and leave a comment on a blog post. You sharing you story will empower another reader. We can all cheer each other one.
