Rise To Your Platform & Shine!
Did you ever experience a time when it seemed like a certain word or theme kept repeating in almost every conversation you had? Or, like that word was trying to get your attention – to reach out to you?
Sometimes, I find the world is so busy, so loud, that I need my quiet time. There is that word again. Quiet. A few nights ago, I was talking to a friend on the phone when they mentioned the word, quiet; immediately, something was inspired in me to start writing.
We had talked about communicating: How good friends don’t always need to talk; they can just sit and be quiet, yet feel totally content and comfortable. How with good friends, being quiet can be an important part of knowing ourselves and knowing others.
For years, that word - quiet - had a negative connotation for me. It had brought me shame. Being a quiet person, it took me awhile to break into larger conversations, e.g., to speak up in class. I thought something was wrong with me because speaking up didn’t come as easy as it seemed to for others. However, I have overcome this feeling of shame for being quiet; I have learned to accept and embrace my awesome self.
From my conversation with my friend, I realized there is no shame in that word, quiet. The negative connotation meant I had nothing to say; however, it now means that I take time to process and listen. When I think of that word, self-care comes to mind. Quiet time in my life is needed because it’s when I recharge and get inspired in a distracted, noisy world. It is a time where I get to think, process my thoughts, and listen to what is happening around me. It is in these moments that I feel really alive and engaged with the world around me. It gives me time to make sense of my world – to understand its meaning.
Quiet time for me is essential for self-care. It is also a starting point for a personal brainstorming session. For example, my quiet time after the phone call with my friend inspired me to write this post.
Yes, I’m a quiet young-adult woman – trying to get ahead. Raising my voice from a whisper to get the thoughts I want to share with the world heard has been a process. But through looking back at previous posts and conversations with others, I have realized that many people need courage and support to help them rise on their platforms and shine. And that is where I can help – to give you the support you need to shine on your personal platform, whatever that may be!
My mission is to help individuals rise on their platform and shine!
Often, people say to me: “I don’t know where to start.” So I thought by sharing bits and pieces from my personal journey, I would motivate you to turn your ideas into action!
The world needs you to Show Up. Showing Up is the first step in rising up on your platform. Yes, you may find it hard to be seen, but Showing Up matters! Life rewards you when you do! You never know what life has in store for you! Go Be Seen!
